i think it makes a HUGE difference, that is another advantage non-bw tend to have...male affection at an early age. Having a good father in the household, is important to a woman's self esteem, it helps her to see men in a positive light and to have a model for the type of man she should interact with and how she should interact with him as she gets older. Additionally, a good woman will mirror the treatment her mother gives to her father, so if she sees a bad example or a good example that is what she is going to give to her man most likely. Some bm are always complaining that bw dont' know how to treat a man etc...did people ever think maybe that is because there is NO MAN in the household, so she is learning how to function without one and has no example to model her behavior off of.

In addition feeling like "damn, daddy didn't even love me," causes women emotiona self damage and it makes them (sometimes) desperate for male attention and they'll do anything to get it, including twerking, getting pregnant (longing for a stable family) or sleeping with multiple men.

It's just stressful not to have a father who loves you around and that is a big problem in the black community and its destroing the self-esteem of too many bw and its making too many black men take on the woman role in the relationship. Some young bm dont' know what it means to be a good husband and father as they enver have an example to see from a young age either...they're never around because they do not know how to be around and be a father and that only continues the cycle...father's are so important, people need to get that through their head. my daughter asked me about if i ever posted the twerk topic that she suggested.  i told her yes and let her read the comments.  she said all of us are missing the point.

she said that twerking really is not dancing, it's a show of skills.  she said it may be put into the dancing category, but it was not created for typical dancing.  it was created to show how good you are in bed, and has nothing to do with african culture and booty dancing.  it is simply a sexual ritual, and it's being done by young black girls.  she said that is the only thing twerking is for, plain and simple.

Wait, while a woman who is good at twerking is probably great in bed (on top anyway), does this really imply that the entire reason twerking was invented was to show off sexual ability? No offense Dawn, but if this is coming from your 16 year old daughter, maybe she's reading too much into this. it's sad actually. I think young black girls shouldn't twerk just to get black guy's attention. The reason is because everytime they try THAT much harder to get a black guy's attention, it's like they're begging for attention. The more they beg for attention, it communicates that they feel like the black guys opinion of black women matters MORE than their opinion of themselves, in turn that only causes black men/boys to only take them more for granted.

If black girls/women want respect, we need to stop BEGGING black men who dislike us for attention. Im going to say something that may not make sense. But a lot of the social ills and problems concerning young black girls like your daughter is a indirect consequence of the war on drugs. If we could just wake black people up to stop supporting the war on drugs or get the government to stop it, alot of things we complain about would naturally diminish.

I think the main difference is whether you would show these videos of yourself to your parents or not. In the case of the African dances, yes, it's something you can be proud of, it shows you have some dancing skill. But in the case of the Twerking, I think they would be way embarrassed if their parents saw this. The only thing you learn from these videos is that those women are probably good in bed. Dawn, here is my opinion. Some people may not like it, but oh well. If your daughter is telling you that this is the only way Black girls think they can get attention from Black boys (Let us be honest here, MOST Black girls, I would say 95+ are only interested in getting the attention of Black boys) that is the message that Black boys have sent them.
