Big Chop Fears? Pictures Pics Black Girls & Women with TWA (Teeny Weeny Afro)
going to a natural stylist will probably be a good thing for you...they can give you good pointers...did u buy books and stuff when you transitioned so u could learn proper hair care?
bronwyn you are BEAUTIFUL and for your information i really didn't think ur afro ( before u cut it with the coils) looked bad at all...i think you are too hard on yourself...have you tried going to a natural stylist?
Quote from: Dutch89 on March 27, 2011, 10:42:35 AMHow about using a afro comb and blow drying your hair so it can separate all the knots and whatnot, so you don't have to cut your hair, or won't that work.Saturn was the one who said she had the knots.Mine isn't knots...it's split and splintered ends galore. But um anyway....mission completed. Check the avi to your left<~~~~~~~~

Quote from: NYWM on March 27, 2011, 12:23:06 AMI like the photos above. Their hair looks neatly groomed and it works for them. Not every woman has the "right face" for short hair, but these women do, in my opinion. Bronwyn, that may be the way to go for you. I suppose it would also be less hassle to maintain. Yeah, it makes the most sense, i guess. But like other ladies, I'd prefer to have longer hair. That picture was from two years ago and when I cut it off, I covered it with a scrunchy thing. And the time before that, I covered it with full scarves for 8 months. I am considering it though..to start over....the only thing is that I'd need to make sure my skin is in the best shape possible since short hair brings all the attention to your face. Quote from: Dawn on March 27, 2011, 12:40:48 AMi feel like a doctor or scientist or something...i feel this huge need or urge to ask you a BUNCH of questions to find out why your hair is breaking off...but i'm not going to sit down and type 100 questions for you to answer and then give you my UNprofessional opinion. Yeah it's a mystery to me because I don't do anything to harm my hair (heat, relaxers, hair color, excessive brushing, etc....). My diet isn't the best, but even when I was drinking only water for months and eating fairly regularly in college.....same thing. And most of the black women/girls I know don't do anything particular with their diet to have healthy hair. So, it doesn't matter what I do or don't do. Oh well.....

Quote from: Dawn on March 26, 2011, 02:23:15 PMwill you post a close up pic of your hair i want see what this "crap" looks like! I just took a few just now for you Dawn that I'll PM you later since you asked. I know others may be curious so the following is a picture from June 2009 when I was the most frustrated with my hair. It's in a similar state now, but I conceal(ed) it very well in a puff. The pic is from two years ago....I cut most of it three months later.Hahhaha....I bet you all believe me now when i talk about my hair.

Quote from: Dutch89 on March 26, 2011, 03:14:19 PMB. i have always imagined you having a big afro. And when you say you want to go for the big chop do you mean like cutting everything until you have nothing left or do you mean like having small afros like the pictures on here?Dutch you probably remember my first avatar i had on here. I used to have a decent afro. Even then my hair gave me trouble..the splits wouldn't allow it to get longer in length...but it was better than it has been the past couple years. The last time I cut it, it was more like the pictures here. I don't have clippers and I didn't have it professionally done. I just took some scissors and hacked. I don't know that I'll do it. I REALLY don't want to cut my hair again...especially since it obviously didn't improve anything.

Big Chop Fears? Pictures Pics Black Girls & Women with TWA (Teeny Weeny Afro) i didnt big chop i just transitioned
Well you always hear me complaining about my hair....it's always split, breaking off, my "unintentional mohawk". The sheamoisture stuff seemed to be doing some good, and i was optimistic, but now, not so much. My hair is constant crap and has been for years...(just speaking on it's condition, not the texture)
I'm about one day away from chopping my hair off again.
