Skeptics, Smeptics. They get on my nerves. lol. Of course my friends thought I'd gone crazy. I'm not quick to TAKE a number, much less give out my own.

This lucid dreaming sounds intriguing. I'm going to look into it a bit more. See what I can learn.

And also, you know how you meet someone and you just feel like you already know them or have some unexplainable familiarity?

Oh my gosh, yes!!! I'm quick to ask a person, :Why do I know you when I know that I don't?

And also, you know how you meet someone and you just feel like you already know them or have some unexplainable familiarity?  Sometimes I think that in those cases the two may have spent time together in dreams that neither one consciously remembers.   Maybe cases like this are rare, but if neither can recall dreaming together how do you really know?

I told him about the Nick Jr dream. We agreed to exchange numbers because either we were really crazy and deserved to be friends, or something had shifted in the universe. lol

Chally, I like you already!  That's so cool.  Skeptics would rain on your parade and say that you had seen Brad at some point in your real life and your subconscious filed him away and expressed him in your dream.  When you finally met him it was just a coincidence because he probably lives somewhere in your area and chances were that you'd see him again in real life.

That's possible, i guess.  But i do believe that it can't always be explained like that....especially considering the other details of your dream.  Nick Jr?  Nicole? That's just awesome!

I think it would be so cool to have someone come up to me and say, "This may sound weird, but I've dreamed about you before."  and knowing exactly what they are talking about.

Quote
I've heard of Lucid Dreaming, but I don't think that I've ever experienced it. I mean, sure there have been times where I knew that what was happening could be nothing but a dream, but from what I've read about lucid dreaming it's a bit deeper than that.

I've had a couple incidents with sleep paralysis here and there so for the past month I've been doing daily "intensive" research online about lucid dreaming (forums/discussion boards).   With intention I had my first short lucid dream earlier this month and since then I've had two more.  I'm still new to it so Im still working on improving my method to get there and I haven't been able to do anything productive in the dreams yet like ask people questions because they've been too short.

But it's so cool.  Once you fully realize you are dreaming you get a sense of awareness and everything is just as real as reality.   In my most recent LD i rubbed my hands across the wood table i was sitting at and even took a sip of water (...and it actually tasted and felt like water going down).  PM for more personal details if interested.

Some people are able to induce time dilation where a dream feels like it lasts a week in an hour nap real-time. There are other accounts of people meeting people in dreams before real life or sharing dreams with people they know.  And of course there are accounts of precognition.   Most LD-ers just do it to have fun because once you learn control you can do anything in your dream playground (teleport, fly, punch people, etc....).

I don't necessarily want to promote that others try it because there's debate on whether Lucid dreams are actually the same as Astral Projection and OBEs and I know better than anyone that it could pose a conflict to one's beliefs.  Many just say LD is all contained and created in your own mind but many others also place spiritual meaning on this phenomena.

Since last month I've also been having normal dreams, pretty much every night, that I've been writing down and paying more attention to (for instance the homeless cannibal dream i mentioned).  I also have an interesting account that happened today.

There's so much about the mind and its capabilities that we just don't know.

I mentioned this thread to one of my good friends after church today and she said to me, "I've always told you that you had a strong 6th sense. Remember Brad?"

Ha! Brad. I met Brad in my dreams LONG before I met him in real life. In my dream, he was a big time executive for Nickelodeon's Nick Jr department and I was pitching a show to him. I remembered him with a clarity that is crazy amazing for a dream. I finally met him a few months later at an open mic night event. He looked at me strangely when he first saw me. The whole night my friends were like, "C, that guy is really checking you out." But it didn't feel that way. I mean, come on, we know when a guy is checking us out. His stare felt...questioning. When my friends and I were leaving, he stopped me in the parking lot.

He said, "Excuse me. This is gonna sound really crazy, but does the name Nick mean anything to you?"

This was so weird to me. It must have shown on my face because he quickly said, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to freak you out. It's just that I've dreamed about you before. You were my therapist. At the end of each dream I'd ask what was wrong with me, and you'd just smile and say, 'Don't worry, Nick is coming.'"

I told him about the Nick Jr dream. We agreed to exchange numbers because either we were really crazy and deserved to be friends, or something had shifted in the universe. lol

A couple of months later, my friend moved back home for good. It was time for my "And a half..." b-day party (don't judge me lol) and I'd invited Brad. It was their introduction that made everything click for me. "Brad, this is my friend Nicole. Nic, this is...........  :o"

They'll celebrate their 4th wedding anniversary in September.  ;D

wow those are intense stories guys. I haven't had anything quite as intense like that happen, but I have had the dream of being on a phone talking to an unknown guy. i was laying on my bed and months later I was talking to this guy (who i met online) and i was in the exact same position as in my dream. sometimes i wonder if that's the man God intends for me to be with. we're not currently in a relationship or anything, but he's one of the few men that I can actually trust.

That's an incidence of Deja Vu and I think it's totally possible that you saw it beforehand.   I wouldn't necessarily think you should place too much significance based on that incidence alone, though.  But I do think it's proof that you have a little something going on.

While we're talking about this, does anyone have any interest, thoughts, knowledge or experience with Lucid dreaming?   Yes? no?

That's interesting Chaljo.  Thanks for sharing.  I think lots of people have strange incidents like that.  It's a shame that most don't know how to develop it.

Just this week I had a nightmare about a homeless man i know who was accused of eating a woman's homeless female relative.  In the dream i was like what?  Eating?  Later in the dream he turned into a dog, and 3 doberman pincer looking dogs destroyed him.     The very next day I heard on the radio about the Miami cannibal story and how he was growling at police like a dog before he was killed.

So I thought that dream was related to that story.

Another time I had a dream where I saw three vases floating in the air.  One by one they were each shot and shattered leaving behind a number.  110.   I played that number the next day in the pick-3 lottery and won a little over $100.  Unfortunately the numbers were drawn in a different order so I didn't win the full prize.   But I was so happy about it, I gave a waitress a $13 tip---she was very happy, too!

I have this thing where I always follow my first mind. I've learned through experiences over time that doing so has helped me to avoid a LOT of trouble. It may sound a bit cliche, but it's the truth.

Example 1 - For three years, every Wednesday and Thursday, I'd work a 16 hour shift. Every Wednesday and Thursday night, I'd stop and get my dinner from a little family owned bistro that was between my job and home. One particular night, I was dog tired and said, you know what, I'm not going tonight. I was adamant. Then I thought about the fact that I'd been going there so long the owner knew when to expect me and what I was having so he would already have it ready and waiting when I walked in the door. So I changed my mind. Ok. I'll go.

Driving along, when I got to the first turn off something said, "Chally, go home." Like I said, I've learned to listen to that first mind, so I did. Went home, clicked on the tube (for noise), and proceeded to get settled.  About 15 minutes later I stopped dead in my tracks when breaking news announced that there was a hostage situation taking place at the little family owned bistro that had I not followed my first mind, I would be sitting in at that very moment.

Example 2 -

I would always dream about me being in a fight. Never knew who I was fighting. Never knew how the fight started. But it always ended the same way. Me pressing a hot iron on someone's face, then flying backwards.

Fast forward a few years. In a relationship with this guy. Relationship turned abusive. First verbally, then emotionally. Never physically. Until one night I went out with my cousins to hang with out of town fam . He stayed in with his friends. I saw one of his homies while I was out. Apparently, he saw me before I saw him and he actually snapped a picture of me hugging my cousin (a guy) from Denver. My dud, not knowing my cousin, assumed the worse. Blew my phone up. Who hears a phone in the club? Really? Anywho. Went home. He's with the crap. One of his friends egging it on (never did like him). The other trying to calm him down (love him to pieces). I walk off. He grabs me, spins me around, and for the first time ever, swung at me. We straight up rumbled, and all of a sudden, it was like deja vu. Time seemed to slow down dramatically. I looked over and saw that we'd knocked over the ironing board and that the light on the iron was on. I fought my way on top of him, reached for the iron, and yea. That dream came true. As for the flying part. His friend was finally able to get a grip on one of us and he pulled me up off of him and carried me out of the room.
The best thing I can do for you is be myself. Anything else would be uncivilized.

i am starting to think there might be some truth to the fact that all humans have a level of precognition because it's happened to me a couple times. nothing serious, but there have been a couple times where I've had a dream about being somewhere or talking to someone and I think nothing of it, until months later when I realize that the dream came true or I recognize the place or person from a dream I had.

I've had lots of instances like this, but not as dreams.  For me, I'll get random memories, songs, tv or movie scenarios, people that go through the thoughts in my head and then later on something happens that makes me think "Ohh....that's why I was thinking about THAT earlier!"

It's never anything serious and I never stop and pick out which thoughts may become significant later because I can't really decipher what's "me" just thinking and what may be an indication of future events.

One example i always remember is that several years ago when I was in school, for whatever reason I was thinking about the characters of the Flintsones cartoon.   When I came home I found that we received movies in the mail, one of them being the Flintstones Christmas movie.   I had no idea that my mom had ordered it thinking we might want to watch or even that we were expecting movies at all.

I don't think it's a psychic, but I think like you said there might be something innate to it. But the thing is you can't always understand or trust your intuition because you could misinterpret or get it wrong that's why I don't believe in seeing psychics and don't believe in relying on that.

I also agree that in animals and other creatures it's probably more pronounced but because humans use our brains for other things so much, perhaps the part that processes the sixth sense isn't as pronounced, but the ability is there.

In the time article about the science/ theory of precognition they talked about how it was easiest  to have precognition when you're asleep because so many other parts of our brain that are usually working are dormant during that time. so that one area may be more active. that's where I remember my two incidents from a dream. so maybe there might be some truth to it, but then again maybe not.

Is it possible that all people posses some level of precognition and is it innate in people? But, if there is some level of precognition that is natural to most people, it makes you wonder doesn’t it, why  would only some people be able to realize this level of precognition, while most others can’t?" - quote from original post of this topic

yes, i believe everyone possesses some level of precognition and it is innate in people.

i also believe the more a person doesn't use it, the more he loses it...just like with anything.

i believe we have been brainwashed not to trust ourselves and instead trust authority/government.  this keeps up weak, submissive, slaves, poor, robots, etc. all of our lives.  i believe some human realized the power that we all have inside of us a very long time ago, and got together to brainwash the masses and hide the secret of the power that we all have inside of us which includes a 6th sense and other things like the law of attraction, and more.

Precognition: Does Every Person Have A Sixth Sense?

"Precognition aka ESP or foresight has been a common question and a popular topic in literature, movies and pop culture. But is there a science behind precognition and does every person possess some degree of precognition?

I had a dream that I was on the phone with some guy and I had asked him a question. Months later, I was on the phone with a guy who I met on a dating website actually and I asked him a question and seconds later, I realized it was the same scenario from my dream. I was in the exact position, having a conversation with a guy I hadn't known when I had the dream and we had been having the same conversation and I recognized the question that I had asked from my dream only after I said it. Now, I don’t believe in psychics because it conflicts with my religious beliefs…but, I definitely remember saying the very same sentence in my dream in the exact same scenario. I brushed it off, but it’s not the first time that it’s happened. I’m sure we’ve all had moments like that.

Now it’s very possible that maybe I just projected my dream into the conversation subconsciously or something, but it’s a curious topic.

There are animals who have a sense of precognition, like the dogs and other animals who can sense earthquakes and natural disasters before they happen and flee from the area where it’s going to occur. There are also so-called “psychics,” who detectives sometimes use in murder cases to find bodies and such.

Like I said, I do not believe in seeing psychics , I will never see one because it conflicts with my religious beliefs, but there have been moments where things that cannot be explained have happened.

Is it possible that all people posses some level of precognition and is it innate in people? But, if there is some level of precognition that is natural to most people, it makes you wonder doesn’t it, why  would only some people be able to realize this level of precognition, while most others can’t?"
